In 2015, LEM partnered with AdHoc Group Against Crime to pilot Momma's Meals, a program designed to provide groceries to food insecure families of homicide victims.
Many of Kansas City's homicides claim bread winners, nuturers or often leave loved ones scrambling to pool money for a funeral. Many do not eat during these difficult times. Not because they lack an appetite, but because they lack food.
LEM relies on AdHoc to identify these families at the onset of homicide and our organization strives to provide enough food to last 1-2 weeks.
