In 2019 LEM decided to end our annual Night of Remembrance (learn more here) to brainstorm a new way to keep Laura's memory alive. After careful deliberation, our founding member and board of directors settled on creating a scholarship fund. We are in the beginning stages of planning the complete details for the fund. However, the main objective is to continue Laura's legacy by uplifting individuals who desire to improve their lives with education (traditionally and non-traditionally). Our goal is to complete all details of the scholarship by the end of the 3rd quarter. We want to be ready to identify recipients in the first quarter of 2023. Our current estimate is that roughly 20-25% of proceeds will go toward administrative costs, with 75-80% going to our scholarship recipient(s).

The Birthday Giveaway is our way of saying thank you for your support when you donate during March (1st-31st). March is bittersweet for LEM as it is the month of Laura's birthday and her disappearance. We hope that the Birthday Giveaway will build some excitement with our supporters and allow us to reach our goal of properly launching the scholarship fund this year.
